· 9:30 AM - “Swing with less pain” by David Duffner, MD, medical director of the spine program and chief of surgery at Desert Regional Medical Center. In a lecture geared toward golfers in the Coachella Valley, Dr. Duffner will talk about ways you can “Swing with Less Pain.” An avid golfer, Dr. Duffner discusses the various ways that the game of golf can affect your back and other joints. He talks about ways to minimize pain, and when all else fails, how to know when surgery might be an option.
· 10:15 AM - “Get back on the court,” by James Bell, MD, orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist. Dr. Bell, a tennis enthusiast himself, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in orthopedic trauma, sports medicine and joint replacement. He will discuss common tennis and other sports injuries, and how best to know when arthroscopic procedures or other treatments are necessary.
· 11:00 AM - “Minimally invasive approach to hip replacement” by Louis Stabile, MD, orthopedic surgeon. An expert in the minimally invasive approach to hip replacement, Dr. Stabile will discuss how you know when it’s time for a hip replacement, what you can expect during the surgery and how best to return to your active lifestyle in the quickest and safest way possible.
· 11:45 AM - “Arthritis of the knee,” by Douglas Roger, MD, medical director of the joint program at Desert Regional Medical Center. Dr Roger talks about how to deal with knee pain and what options you should consider before going through knee replacement surgery.
