Revision Bariatric Surgery
Some patients can experience disappointing weight-loss results or see a significant weight regain over time. In these cases, revision bariatric surgery might be required.
For example, some gastric bypass patients might experience an enlargement of the stomach pouch, which can make the surgery less effective. In these cases, doctors can inject a scleroscent, a medicine that inflames the stomach pouch, or they can insert a StomaphyX device that folds the stomach pouch tissue. Both of these procedures — which are done without incisions — reduce the volume of the stomach pouch to the proper size.
For other patients, a new type of surgical weight-loss procedure might be available that wasn’t at the time of the initial surgery. Revision weight-loss surgery could give you the second chance you need to lose weight and live a healthier life.
